Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor isn't ready to give up on Andrew Wiggins just yet. Taylor went on The Scoop podcast with Darren Wolfson on ESPN and they talked about the 23-year-old star. Taylor told Wolfson:

“I just think you want to take a person and not give up on them when they’re that young, no matter what,” Taylor said. “I just think you have to be really careful not to give up on him.”

Timberwolves fans should hope they aren't ready to give up on Wiggins just yet. They recently inked Wiggins to a lengthy and lucrative contract extension in 2017. Taylor and the Wolves signed Wiggins to a five year, $146-million extension.

Wiggins secured the bag, but his play hasn't quite caught up to his bank statement. Wiggins is largely seen as an inefficient player and if the Wolves expect him to live up to his contract, he'll need to improve upon his Player Efficiency Rating of 13 from last season.

Numbers can't tell the entire story, but they help paint a picture. Wiggins has averaged just under 20 points for his career while shooting 45 percent from the floor and 33 percent from three. These are certainly good numbers, but not quite up to snuff for a player who will be making upwards of $25 million next season.

Taylor's not wrong for keeping the faith with Wiggins. He's only 23 and has all the physical tools to become a star. It's not time to give up on Wiggins, but the Wolves might be worried if he doesn't put it together this season.
