In his first few months with the Minnesota Timberwolves, All-Star forward Jimmy Butler has quickly acquiesced into a significant leadership role with his new team.
This has only been further emphasized under head coach Tom Thibodeau, whom he played under for several years with the Chicago Bulls, as Butler told Shams Charania of The Vertical that he's an extension of his coach on the court.
The manner in which Thibodeau coaches does involve plenty of yelling to get his message across, which could over time become tuned out by the players. However, with Butler being able to convey what their head coach is looking for on the court in a different fashion, could be huge in helping the Timberwolves reach their potential.
Minnesota is in the prime position to become a force to reckon with in the Western Conference with their young and talented roster led by Butler along with Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins. The fact that the three-time All-Star can lead the way as an extension of the head coach while being one of the leaders on the team could make a huge impact this upcoming season.
Time will tell if this new dimension with Butler now in the mix with the Timberwolves can be something to get them over the top in the Western Conference.
