In the last couple of weeks, talk has heated up around the Minnesota Timberwolves centered around All-Star forward Jimmy Butler's future with the franchise.

It has also ramped up to another degree with Butler reportedly having internal issues with Karl-Anthony Towns and his unwillingness to ink a four-year, $110 extension this offseason. The 28-year-old has added yet another wrinkle to the chatter by liking a photo on Instagram that Denver Broncos star wide receiver Demaryius Thomas suggested for him to play for the Denver Nuggets.

Butler is likely trolling those that have bought into the talk that he is unhappy in Minnesota that he is looking to have a change in scenery. The Nuggets are an intriguing spot with the load of young promising talent that they possess with Nikola Jokic, Gary Harris, Jamal Murray, Will Barton, Michael Porter Jr., and a proven All-Star in Paul Millsap.

The addition of Butler could be a tremendous step forward for the Nuggets to contend in the Western Conference as they narrowly missed out on the playoffs this past season. He is a proven star on both ends of the floor that has shown the ability to be the leading offensive factor along with being a tone setter.

It is expected that Butler will hit the open market next summer with the decision to decline the final year of his five-year, $92.3 million deal that will make him one of the top players in free agency. He could potentially have several teams interested in acquiring him such as the New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets,  Los Angeles Clippers, and Los Angeles Lakers, who are positioned to be strapped a significant amount of salary cap space. With Butler already looking ahead to possible suitors, this could see things shift with his standing with the Timberwolves next season.
