Since being acquired by the Minnesota Timberwolves during the 2017 NBA Draft, All-Star forward Jimmy Butler has taken up a significant role as a leader.

Along those same lines, Butler recently voiced that he has fully embraced the responsibility as he has stepped into keeping the entire team accountable on the court, according to Kyle Ratke of Timberwolves.com.

“I love holding everybody accountable,” Butler said after Friday’s practice. “If you’re doing something wrong, it’s not personal if someone’s cussing at you and all that good stuff. Everybody just wants to be great here. Everybody wants to win. Everybody wants to end up at the top. I think that’s why you play this game.”

The 25-year-old is one of the leaders on the Timberwolves squad being the more experienced players that has helped lead the Chicago Bulls to several playoff appearances prior to this season. He has also taken up a larger leadership role over the last couple of years.

The fact that Jimmy Butler is willing to pick up that responsibility shows much maturity that could go a long way in helping the Timberwolves become a title-contending team. Butler was one of a handful of veteran players such as Jeff Teague and Taj Gibson to help bring more stability on the court and in the locker room.

Minnesota possesses a roster loaded with young talent that has the potential to develop into something special over the next several seasons.
