New Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Jordan Bell has his teammate's back after making comments regarding All-Star center Karl-Anthony Towns' scuffle with Joel Embiid last week resulting in a pair of two-game suspensions.

Per Kyle Ratke on Twitter:

“I think he did what he thought was necessary. Somebody was pushing so he pushed back. That's the way my mom told me. Somebody hit you, you hit their a** back. I think my mom would be proud of what he did.”

The 24-year-old Bell signed with the Timberwolves in the offseason after two seasons with the Golden State Warriors, winning a championship in 2017-18. Bell, a product of the University of Oregon and former second-round selection, signed a minimum deal to back up Towns in Minnesota, shoring up depth for the playoff hopeful.

Bell has been suspended before, too; however, it stemmed from an incident with the team rather than an on-court brawl with a fellow big man.

The 6-foot-8 power forward/center is coming off his most successful game with the T-Wolves—a 12-point outing along with racking up six rebounds and three assists in Minnesota's blowout loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday.

Towns and Embiid have been the subject of much discussion in and around the NBA due to their flare-up on the hardwood and actual punches thrown, something seen less in the contemporary professional basketball league.

Bell's language backing up Towns (both figuratively and literally) shines a light on how athletes still view their role in the game and the ability to stand up for themselves in the face of possible physical altercations.
