Player movement in the NBA has never been more prevalent than today. Per Chris Hine of the Star Tribune, Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns gave a strong statement after their loss to the New York Knicks

“If you want to build a legacy we got to win. And I want to build my legacy here so I want to win with the Wolves, and I'm going to do everything I possibly can to keep step-by-step, brick-by-brick, building something and a culture here that's going to stand here for a long time.”

These are reassuring words for the Timberwolves organization and fans in what has been a disaster of a season. Minnesota has the worst record in the league with seven wins and 24 losses. The team has shown a tendency to crumble in the dying moments of games. The lineup has been decimated by injuries and absences due to health reasons.

After the post-game interviews, head coach Ryan Saunders was fired. This was not exactly a surprise as the team has vastly underperformed during his tenure, although he is not to blame for all of the shortcomings.

For starters, he took the reins of a young team that had many growing pains to do. Also, he barely got to see Towns and dynamic guard D'Angelo Russell on the court at the same time.

The Timberwolves have hired former Toronto Raptors assistant coach Chris Finch as Saunders' replacement. Only time can tell whether Minnesota made the right moves, but when you're the worst team in the league, changes are inevitable.
