Minnesota Timberwolves big man Karl-Anthony Towns is expected to play against the Indiana Pacers on Friday after missing 15 games.

Towns has been out with a left knee injury, an ailment he suffered against the Los Angeles Clippers on Dec. 13:

The Timberwolves are 15-25 on the season. They are in 13th place in the Western Conference standings.

Towns is averaging 26.5 points, 11.7 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game this season. He’s shooting 51.4 percent from the field, 41.8 percent from beyond the arc and 79.6 percent from the free-throw line.

For the Timberwolves to reach the playoffs in the rugged Western Conference, they not only need Towns to be healthy, but another dynamic scorer next to KAT and Andrew Wiggins would help. Minnesota remains interested in acquiring All-Star point guard D’Angelo Russell from the Golden State Warriors despite what transpired this past summer, according to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic.

However, it doesn’t appear the Warriors are interested in moving Russell, so the Timberwolves will either have to move forward with their current roster or find another player to target via trade.

Timberwolves fans will be thrilled to see Karl-Anthony Towns on the court on Friday. He's one of the best players in the NBA and the franchise player in Minnesota.
