D'Angelo Russell is officially a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Karl-Anthony Towns couldn't be happier.

The Timberwolves acquired Russell from the Golden State Warriors on Thursday. Andrew Wiggins, the 2014 No. 1 overall draft pick out of Kansas, is headed to the Warriors.

Russell and Towns are very close friends. The All-Star point guard is averaging 23.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 6.2 assists on the season while shooting 43.0 percent from the field, 37.4 percent from beyond the arc and 78.5 percent from the free-throw line.

The Timberwolves desperately needed to make this move. They have lost 13 games in a row and the last time we heard from Towns, he sounded really upset.

So, Timberwolves president of basketball operations Gersson Rosas made the right move by shipping Wiggins — who needed a change of scenery — and getting Russell.

Towns is putting up 26.7 points, 10.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists on the season. He finally has an All-Star teammate to play with on the Timberwolves.
