Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns just passed NBA legend Kevin Garnett for third-most 40 point games in franchise history.

Along with his 42 points, Towns also snagged 17 rebounds. He was 15-of-29 from the field, 3-of-8 from downtown, and 9-of-13 from the charity stripe.

The 23-year-old achieved the feat against the Indiana Pacers. Despite his performance, his team lost, 122-115. Bojan Bogdanovic dropped 37 points. Other contributors for the Pacers include T.J. Leaf who had 18 points, Thaddeus Young who had 15 points, and Wesley Matthews who had 12 points.

Karl-Anthony Towns got help from Anthony Tolliver and Jeff Teague who had 13 points apiece. Taj Gibson had 12 while Derrick Rose dropped 10 points. The Timberwolves have dropped two straight games. They currently have a 29-33 record for 11th place in the West.

Whether or not they'll qualify for the playoffs is a matter of wait-and-see. Not only do they need to win as many games as they can, but the other teams competing for that final playoff spot have to lose. These teams are the Los Angeles Lakers, Sacramento Kings, L.A. Clippers, and the San Antonio Spurs.

Karl-Anthony Towns needs to do more for the Timberwolves to qualify for the playoffs. They will end their three-game road trip on Sunday when they face the Washington Wizards.
