Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves filled up the stat sheets against the Miami Heat and forged a place right beside NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

In their 113-104 victory over the Heat, Towns finished with 34 points, 18 rebounds, seven assists, and six blocks. Per Basketball-Reference, the only player to log in similar numbers is Abdul-Jabbar who tallied 35 points, 19 rebounds, nine assists, and eight blocks on November 14, 1975.

Karl-Anthony Towns, who's in his third year in the league, continues to prove that he's one of the best young big men in the NBA today. For the season, the 23-year-old is averaging 21.2 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks in 33.6 minutes per game.

The Timberwolves, who have struggled to find any sort of consistency this season, sport a 17-19 record. Towns is widely regarded as the Wolves' franchise player. Before the start of the season, he agreed to a five-year, $190 million supermax contract extension.

Certainly, Karl-Anthony Towns belongs in the NBA and is maybe one step closer to being considered as one of the elites. The only thing he needs to do is to turn his team into a legitimate playoff contender. The Wolves don't look like a threat to a championship right now. But in the years to come, especially when Towns enters his prime, this team may be on the rise.
