On Thursday morning, Minnesota Timberwolves star shooting guard Anthony Edwards showcased his skills on the football field. It got the sports world buzzing, as he displayed a strong arm and solid hands as well. So much so, that it caught the eye of Tom Brady. Even so, Karl-Anthony Towns had something to say as well.

Tom Brady sent a tweet letting Edwards know he's “playing the wrong sport.” The Timberwolves' rising star was a talented athlete in multiple sports growing up and bragged about it during his rookie year in the NBA. Even so, he opted to play basketball, as finances may have been the key reason.

The NBA pays its players huge contracts that are worth much more than the average NFL deal. So, Karl-Anthony Towns leaned into that in his response to Tom Brady. Finances alone will likely keep Anthony Edwards with the Timberwolves for the long haul, as his football video just looked like he was just out having fun on Thursday morning.

Regardless, it's fun to speculate what type of player Edwards would be in the NFL. He is ultra-athletic and at 6'4″ the Timberwolves guard would make for an enticing wide receiver. However, he did show some nice accuracy in his arm, so perhaps Anthony Edwards could play the quarterback position as well.

Although it's all fun and games, he's not likely going to pursue an NFL career. Edwards has come along nicely in his development for the Timberwolves, which bodes well for the franchise as a whole. As long as he keeps working hard, Minnesota will have a bonafide superstar on their hands.
