Kevin Garnett, NBA legend and a former member of the Minnesota Timberwolves, believes that Karl-Anthony Towns is still in the process of being a leader for his team.

Per Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, Garnett gave his opinion on where Towns stands as the new leader of the team. For the former MVP, the 23-year-old is still figuring things out.

“Being the example of something is probably the hardest,” Garnett said. “We’re humans. We’re going to mess up. As long as your intent was always in a good place, I’ve always said go with that. He’s in a maturation standpoint as a young leader trying to figure out when to be aggressive, when to spend energy on this, when to be a certain way. I’ve always said, let your pillars be your hard work and being an example and you’ll be smart enough to figure it out.”

After the blockbuster trade which sent Jimmy Butler to the Philadelphia 76ers, Towns — as the team's new best player — was thrust into a new position. Garnett — who's known for his intense leadership during his heydeys — believes that apart from setting an example, Towns also has to figure out how to impose his authority in the right way. After all, the NBA is full of grown men. NBA players don't just follow orders because someone says they should:

“KAT’s going through the process of not trying to piss everybody off or being everybody’s friend.”

This is going to be a tough stretch for the 23-year-old. The good thing is that Garnett is willing to play big brother to him.
