Minnesota Timberwolves guard Malik Beasley will serve a 120-day sentence in the Hennepin County Workhouse after the end of this season. This stemmed from felony charges from his arrest last year.

Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium passed along a statement from Beasley's attorney on the ruling:

Malik Beasley reportedly pointed a rifle toward a family that was house hunting within his local neighborhood in Minneapolis, per Sports Illustrated. He was eventually charged with threats of violence along with drug possession. Not only him, but also his wife, Montana Yao, was charged with a drug count.

According to the prosecutors, a couple along with their 13-year-old child drove to the Plymouth home rented by Beasley and his wife. The NBA player tapped on the SUV's window and threatened the family with his rifle, instructing them to leave his property.

Upon inspection, the police also found a couple of weapons in Beasley's home. Moreover, they also found marijuana in leaf form, which is illegal to possess in the state of Minnesota. According to Charania, Beasley's threat of violence will be downgraded to a misdemeanor after serving the probation.

Despite the incident, the Timberwolves still opted to sign Malik Beasley to an extension heading to the 2020-21 season. The former Florida State standout performed well in 14 appearances for the team last year after posting career-best numbers of 20.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists. He eventually inked a four-year, $60 million deal in the offseason back in November 2020.

The 24-year-old swingman is currently averaging 20.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists through 24 games as a starter for the Timberwolves this season.
