In November, Minnesota Timberwolves forward Malik Beasley was spotted with Larsa Pippen, the wife of NBA legend Scottie Pippen.

On Thursday, Beasley's wife, Montana Yao, filed for divorce, according to E! News. Yao was apparently “blindsided” by the images, per TMZ.

“Montana filed for a divorce the day she saw the photos,” a source told E! News. “Montana never cheated, and it's not in her character. She's not dating anybody. She's a family person. She's focusing on taking care of her son with her parents. They are quarantining together. Her son is her first priority.”

According E! News, the two had been texting for weeks, with Larsa believing that Beasley was preparing to end his relationship with Yao.

“She thought Malik was in the process of ending his marriage and she wasn't doing anything wrong by hanging out with him. Larsa and Malik are still in touch and are planning to see each other again when the news blows over.”

Beasley and Yao met in 2018 and got married in March 2020. The couple shares an 18-month-old son, Makai.

“I've always and will forever remain true to who I am and GOD has never let me down,” Yao, a model, wrote on her Instagram Story on Dec. 1. “The truth always comes out one way or another. Appreciate all the love y'all for real. Wow… I don't even know this man..this is wild y'all I'm seeing it for the time just like y'all.”

Pippen also responded to the recent attention in respective social media posts.

“Don't always trust what you see on social media,” Pippen wrote on Instagram. “Even salt looks like sugar.”

Larsa married Scottie in 1997, filed for divorce in 2016, then re-filed in 2018.

Beasley and Yao were charged with felonies in October after he threatened a family in a vehicle with a rifle parked outside of his house. Police found multiple weapons and marijuana in Beasley's house. He was charged with threats of violence and drug possession, while Yao was charged with a felony drug count.

In 55 games last season between Denver and Minnesota, the Timberwolves swingman averaged 11.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.
