Rumors of Karl-Anthony Towns' unhappiness in The Twin Cities surfaced as his team struggled amid an 11-game losing skid, as suitors like the New York Knicks and the Golden State Warriors were reportedly keeping a close eye on his situation. Yet according to Marc Stein of The New York Times, the Minnesota Timberwolves have no intention to trade him, as they plan to build “everything” around Towns as the pillar of the franchise.

Towns' trade seemed very unlikely unless he requests a trade a la Jimmy Butler, considering he's starting the first of a five-year, $190 million extension, one that could be hard to move after a summer of glamorous spending for NBA front offices.

President of basketball operations Gersson Rosas has been fully committed to building everything around Towns, and that hasn't changed even as the Timberwolves have endured a series of losses in December.

Minnesota got off to an encouraging 10-8 start, but have since lost 12 of their last 14 games, putting them amid the worst teams in the league.

Towns has only experienced the playoffs once when Butler was his teammate — and it seems like he'll have to do some more waiting before he can experience that again.

Timberwolves officers have refuted the notion that Towns is unhappy, as Ethan Strauss' inclusion of his situation is likely a result of sources outside of the team.

Should Towns want out, there will be suitors lining up to call the Wolves' front office, but that is highly unlikely to happen unless he requests a trade outright.
