The Minnesota Timberwolves had a team meeting after their loss to the Phoenix Suns on Monday, according to Christopher Hine of the Star Tribune.

The Timberwolves have lost five games in a row and are just 3-7 in their last 10 games.

“We talked to each other and addressed a few things,” Timberwolves forward Robert Covington said. “Just got to move forward. Got another game Wednesday. Can’t let things linger. … we told each other we got to just get back to ourselves, back to the fun we were having in the beginning of the year.”

Andrew Wiggins admitted that the team “needed” the meeting, especially after losing in double-digits in their last three games.

“We needed it,” said Wiggins, who had 23 points but not the overall impact he had earlier in the season. “We’re losing games that are important and might come back to haunt us. Just refocusing, not getting complacent. I feel like we were kind of content where we were, how we started the season.”

Head coach Ryan Saunders, meanwhile, is proud of his team for showing unity through adversity. While it's common for players to play the blame game amid struggles, Saunders and his players remained as one and are focused on their goals this season.

“That’s what family does. They talk through when things aren’t the way you’d like them to be,” the 33-year-old coach said.

Minnesota has an overall record of 10-13. The Timberwolves started the season off well but have since come back to reality.

However, there's still time for the team to turn things around and make a surprise push for the playoffs. After all, Minnesota is just a game behind the Suns for eighth place in the Western Conference standings and still well in contention.

Maybe this team meeting will be the start of something good.
