The Minnesota Timberwolves are reportedly interested in acquiring the services of Memphis Grizzlies free agent Delon Wright. According to Wolves insider Darren Wolfson, Minnesota have sent feelers towards Wright's camp as an indication of the team's desire to get the incoming fifth-year guard on board — at the right price, of course.

Wright had the best spell of his young career during the second half of last season. The 6-foot-5 point guard was offloaded by the Toronto Raptors in the middle of the season to the Grizzlies — along with C.J. Miles and Jonas Valanciunas — in exchange for Marc Gasol.

Following his mid-season transfer, Wright averaged 12.2 points (on 43.4 percent shooting), 0.8 three-pointers, 5.4 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.6 steals, 0.6 blocks, and 1.5 turnovers in 30.8 minutes per game. He stepped up his game, and as a result, forced himself to a greater role in the rotation of former head coach J.B. Bickerstaff.

The stipulation on Wright's current deal is that he is now a restricted free agent. This means that while he can talk to other teams, the Grizzlies hold the right to match any offer any other team might put on the table.

The Wolves seem ready to test Memphis' resolve on Wright, and might be willing to offer him a more substantial deal compared to the $2.5 million he earned last season. Minnesota are apparently in the market for a point guard right now, and seem prepared to shell out some cash on a player who has shown the potential to be a solid like-for-like replacement for free agent Tyus Jones.
