The Minnesota Timberwolves are reportedly in the process of trying to re-sign forward Shabazz Muhammad, according to Darren Wolfson of KSTP in Minneapolis.

Muhammad's future with the team has been somewhat in jeopardy this summer, with the team having to decide exactly what direction to go in.

There will of course potentially be an issue if Muhammad isn't willing to accept the minimum to stay in Minnesota.

Perhaps Muhammad will be more inclined to stay in town after the addition of Jimmy Butler this offseason, which has thrust the Timberwolves into the playoff discussion. Muhammad may want to do his best to remain a part of that, or he could go in another direction looking for a larger role elsewhere.

Muhammad has seen his scoring and playing time decline in each of the last three seasons. Last year, he averaged 9.9 points per game on 48.2 percent shooting from the field. He finally got his 3-point shooting a little up last year, growing from 28.9 percent to 33.8 percent. A lack of an outside shot has limited his game in an increasingly 3-point shooting oriented league.

It will be interesting to see if the Timberwolves can get a deal done for Muhammad and if he accepts the minimum that will of course be a bargain for Minnesota.
