Patrick Beverley may be the newest dude on the block for the Minnesota Timberwolves, but this isn't stopping him from doing his fair share of recruitment for his new squad. The 33-year-old veteran has set his sights on Philadelphia 76ers want-away star Ben Simmons who made his trade demand with the Sixers official on Tuesday.

Beverley took to Twitter to make a lowkey recruitment pitch aimed at the former Rookie of the Year:

The Timberwolves are of a handful of teams that have been linked to a Ben Simmons trade. Earlier reports suggest that Minnesota had been in extensive talks with the Sixers about a potential deal, but that Philly wasn't happy with the offer the Timberwolves placed on the table.

Interestingly, Patrick Beverley himself has been rumored to be a potential piece in a Ben Simmons trade for the Timberwolves. It would be ironic if Beverley's recruitment attempt ends up getting him shipped (again) to Philadelphia. Then again, this could be part of his plan too, with the prospect of playing alongside Joel Embiid looming.

As for Minnesota, it looks like they are still in the running for Simmons. Teams such as the Sacramento Kings, the Portland Trail Blazers, and even the Golden State Warriors are considered to be the favorites to land the 25-year-old point guard, but at this point, Timberwolves fans are still holding out hope. I think?
