The Minnesota Timberwolves suffered their eighth consecutive defeat on Tuesday, failing to defeat a struggling New Orleans side at the Target Center. It was another disappointing loss for the Wolves, with the visiting Pelicans outplaying them all evening long to snap a 13-game losing streak.

Despite their recent slump, however, Minnesota head coach Ryan Saunders refuses to think his club has given up on the season already:

“I don’t think those are the right words to use,” Saunders said, via Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic. “So, I think frustrated. You can be frustrated because you’ve lost some games. But I’m not using those words.”

It was indeed a frustrating outing for Saunders and his side, with the Wolves finding no answer for Pelicans fourth-year forward Brandon Ingram. The former second overall pick was unstoppable on Wednesday, logging a game-high 34 points on 12-of-22 from the field and 7-of-7 from the line, along with three 3-pointers, six rebounds, five assists, three steals, and a block in 34 minutes of play.

For the Wolves, Andrew Wiggins did his best to keep his team in the game, accounting for a team-high 27 points (on 9-of-23 shooting), two 3-pointers, seven rebounds, and two steals in 42 minutes of action. In the end, though, his effort would fall short as Minnesota certainly missed the presence of Karl-Anthony Towns.

The Wolves are now 10-16, but despite their recent string of defeats, they are still currently just a game and a half behind the eighth-placed Sacramento Kings in the Western Conference. All hope is certainly not lost for Minnesota, and thankfully for them, there's still more than enough time to turn their season around.
