Philadelphia 76ers wing Jimmy Butler was back in Minnesota on Saturday night, the place where his 2018-19 season began. This time, he arrived as an opponent, one who helped his new squad — which is playoff-bound — pick up a win over his old squad — which is not playoff-bound. Now that he was back in the place he requested a trade from, he went on to give little insight as to why he wanted out in the first place, via Jace Frederick of Pioneer Press:

“None of your business. … You don’t know what’s going on unless you’re in there every day. You’re just taking bits and pieces and trying to fill in the gaps that you don’t know. So, now you’ve got to guess. I let people think what they want to think, I really do. It don’t faze me. I don’t read into the media, because nobody knows.”

The Timberwolves finally acquiesced Butler’s trade request with a Nov. 12 deal that sent him and Justin Patton the Sixers in exchange for Robert Covington, Dario Saric, Jerryd Bayles and a Draft selection. Butler is slated to hit free agency this summer and have a bevvy of suitors, although winning a championship in Philadelphia could make that decision a whole lot easier.

One spot it appears Jimmy Butler is not likely to ink a long-term deal is in Minnesota. The Timberwolves fired head coach Tom Thibodeau in the middle of the season, turning the reins over to Ryan Saunders. Moving forward, they’re going at it without Butler, even if we’ll never know why it was unable to all work out.
