The Minnesota Timberwolves continue their search for finalists for their remaining roster spots, still keeping an eye on spark plug Shabazz Muhammad and other shooters to help complete the roster.

According to ESPN 1500's Darren Wolfson, there's a “growing optimism” from the organization in being able to retain Muhammad's services despite contrary reports made in prior weeks.

The team has also looked at marksman Marcus Thornton, given their dire need of shooters off the bench to contrast what is likely to be an inside-heavy starting five.

The Wolves worked out six free agents last week — Anthony Morrow, Thomas Robinson, Isaiah Canaan, Trey Burke, Perry Jones, and Alan Anderson — hoping a few of them can prove an asset to their bench before the start of training camp.

Muhammad played the first four seasons of his career with Minnesota and is familiar enough with the system to fit right in, but Thornton presents a quality knock-down shooter that can catch fire and carry the scoring load from time to time.

Minnesota has four more spots in its roster, including another two-way contract to use before the start of the G League season — giving the team ample options, looking at those who haven't signed overseas hoping for a crack at an NBA roster.
