Over the course of the offseason, people have noticed that the Minnesota Timberwolves are slowly evolving into the Chicago Bulls team that Tom Thibodeau once coached. The whispers eventually reached the coach and he had some words for those people calling his team the “TimberBulls.”

Speaking with Steve Aschburner of NBA.com, Thibodeau addressed those people who are calling his team the ‘TimberBulls.' For the 60-year-old coach, it all boils down to familiarity.

“You’re familiar with them. they’re familiar with you,” Thibodeau told NBA.com. “I’m not the only person who has ever coached Luol, coached Derrick, coached Jimmy or coached Taj. All four of those guys have had other suitors. You talk to ‘em and tell ‘em how they’ll fit in, and then they have to make a decision as to whether they want to come or not.

Taj Gibson, Derrick Rose, and Jimmy Butler were already with the Timberwolves last season. With the recent acquisition of Luol Deng, the former Bulls from some five years ago were reunited once again. Thibodeau wants players that could easily fit into his system. And one way to achieve that is to get players he knows really well and vice versa:

“I think all four of those guys have added a lot to our teams. So whether a guy has played for me before or in a system where Scott had been before or maybe where one of our assistants had been, if you feel like you know a player well and he fits into your system, then why not do it?

“To me, I don’t really care what other people think. I care about what we think.”

By the looks of it, Minnesota fans just have to trust Thibs' process.
