The Minnesota Timberwolves have been put in a state of flux of late, largely because of Jimmy Butler’s request to be traded. At first, Timberwolves head coach and team president Tom Thibodeau and team owner Glen Taylor weren’t on the same page on how to deal with Butler’s appeal, but both men are now in agreement that Minnesota will have its doors open for other teams looking to trade for the two-way superstar.

With Butler’s status in Minnesota a bit less cloudy, it only makes sense that the Timberwolves will attract significant attention on the trade front. In fact, according to Michele Steele of ESPN, Tom Thibodeau has told her that the Timberwolves have already received a number of trade proposals involving the Marquette product.

It’s unclear which teams Thibodeau was referring to when he spoke with Steele. What’s known is that Butler had recently listed the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers, and the Brooklyn Nets as among his preferred destinations.

It’s also entirely possible that parties interested in Butler will ultimately wait for the summer of 2019 before making a move to acquire the four-time NBA All-Star. Butler has one more year left on his current deal, which he signed with the Chicago Bulls back in 2015. He can be a free agent next year if he decides to waive his player option, which, given the recent developments and the clear deterioration of Butler’s relationship with some of his teammates, is extremely possible.
