Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns was befuddled after learning the firing of Gersson Rosas as president of basketball operations. Clearly, KAT was happy with how Rosas ran things for the Timberwolves. But apparently, things weren't rainbows and butterflies and gold-crusted pizzas.

The Athletic released a scratching report, culled from different anonymous sources within the Timberwolves organization, showing Gersson wasn't totally honest with his dealings. His all-business approach also allegedly displeased some staff members.

The Athletic had spent the last several weeks investigating the working environment under Rosas and interviewed numerous sources on the current staff about the situation after learning of mounting discontent. Some said Rosas worked his staff long hours without giving much input into the decision-making process.

With Rosas being given the pink slip, Timberwolves vice president of basketball operations Sachin Gupta will take over on a temporary basis. Gupta should feel a sense of vindication after he and Rosas butted heads numerous times in the past, including a heated spat just a month ago.

The tension between Rosas and Gupta only grew later in August when Rosas banished Gupta from the team’s offices and granted him permission to seek employment elsewhere, according to sources. The issue was resolved in early September after ownership got involved and Gupta decided to stay.

Rosas' hiring of Patrick Beverley also caused conflict, particularly involving free agent Jordan McLaughlin. Rosas apparently reneged on a promise to give more opportunities to McLaughlin to give way to Beverley.

Karl-Anthony Towns has yet to give a more detailed comment on Gersson Rosas' firing but it seems his “WTF” post on Twitter now feels more appropriate in light of all the secrets spilling out.
