NBA front offices around the league are confused with the turmoil surrounding the Minnesota Timberwolves situation. A team representative reportedly told Keith Smith of RealGM:

“We've seen dysfunction before, but this is a new level. Sometimes when there is a transition, you struggle with who to call. This is just a mess, because they are all still there, but they aren’t on the same page at all.”

Teams looking to trade for the Timberwolves' Jimmy Butler apparently do not know who to call and discuss with in terms of making a deal for the disgruntled All-Star forward. Some are wondering whether they should discuss the trade with team president and head coach Tom Thibodeau, or speak with general manager Scott Layden. However, team owner Glen Taylor said that teams interested in Butler should directly contact him.

Several teams jumped on the opportunity to grab one of the league's best two-way players after Butler requested for a trade in his meeting with Thibodeau earlier this week.

The former Bulls coach reportedly did not want to deal his defensive stud, but later said that he is willing to do so for the right and fair price.

Taylor, though, is reportedly adamant to get a deal done for Butler quick.

After Karl-Anthony Towns and the Timberwolves agreed to a five-year $190 million super max extension earlier today, the franchise has made it clear that they are moving forward with Towns, who made the All-NBA third team this past season.

What's not clear is the franchise's plans with their other All-NBA talent in Butler. With the owner and the front office at opposite ends, it almost seems inevitable that not everybody will be happy when this ridiculous situation eventually comes to a head.
