Minnesota Timberwolves swingman Andrew Wiggins had an outstanding performance on Saturday, logging his first career triple-double in a 122-112 loss to the Toronto Raptors. The 24-year-old accounted for 18 points (on 6-of-14 shooting), 10 rebounds, and 11 assists, but despite his heroics, the defending champs proved too much for the Wolves.

Following his historic performance, Wiggins was asked about his plans this summer; specifically, if he had already decided on his participation for his home nation of Canada for the upcoming Summer Olympics. As usual, Wiggins was non-committal about his desire to represent his country.

“I’m not sure [about the summer],” he said, via Michael Grange of Sportsnet. “Right now my team is struggling a little bit so we have to get back and try to get in a playoff run. That’s my main goal right now. And after that I’m going to decide on Canada Basketball.”

Last summer, Andrew Wiggins also passed on the opportunity to suit up for Canada for the Olympic qualifiers, citing his focus on the Timberwolves as his primary reason. Nonetheless, the good news for the Canadians here is that unlike in the past, this wasn't a straight-up “no” from the former first overall pick. As a matter of fact, Wiggins even implied that there is a good chance he will be suiting up for the national team.

“[But] I have great respect for [national team head coach Nick Nurse] and I plan on having a conversation with him eventually,” Wiggins declared.

Nothing is set in stone, but perhaps this is the closest thing we've seen to Wiggins actually saying “yes” to Canada. The Olympics is as prestigious as they come in terms of international tournaments, so this should serve as a good motivator for the Toronto native.
