The Minnesota Timberwolves seem to be brewing something up as rumor has it that Karl-Anthony Towns has set up private meetings with a couple of free agents.

Per Sagar Trika of the Early Bird Rights, JJ Redick — who's currently a free agent — revealed that Towns has set up some meetings some free agents.

“It's interesting you bring up Minnesota. I know that… so, there's a few [Karl-Anthony Towns] meetings with potential free agents, or free agents, that aren't public that I know about. I'm kinda hearing the same thing: Minnesota's up to something.”

It's an interesting piece of news from Redick. The Timberwolves haven't been mentioned in the rumor mill mainly because they don't have enough cap space to accommodate a big free agent.

Now, some whispers reveal that they're gunning for D'Angelo Russell and are looking to trade Andrew Wiggins away.

It remains a question as to how they're going arrange Wiggins in a trade package. After all, he has four years remaining of a hefty five year, $147.7 million contract. It would be difficult to find a team who's willing to absorb that large of a deal.

Be as it may, we should still keep an eye for what the Timberwolves have in store.

Whatever it is, we'll find out soon enough as the beginning of free agency is right around the corner.
