The Minnesota Timberwolves are actively exploring options to move off Andrew Wiggins' contract, according to Jake Fischer of Sports Illustrated.

Wiggins arguably has one of the worst contracts in the NBA, so the Timberwolves are going to have a hard time trying to move Wiggins, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft out of Kansas.

Wiggins signed a lucrative five-year, $147.7 million maximum contract with the Timberwolves in the summer of 2017. The swingman will make $27,504,630 next season, $29,542,010 in 2020-21, $31,579,390 in 2021-22 and $33,616,770 in 2022-23.

Wiggins has failed to live up to the hype of being a No. 1 overall pick. He was booed by Minnesota fans a few times this past season at home. The forward averaged 18.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 41.2 percent from the field, 33.9 percent from beyond the arc and 69.9 percent from the free-throw line.

The Timberwolves have a new president, Gersson Rosas, who is trying to improve this franchise as quickly as he can. Moving Wiggins' contract would be a huge step in that direction. Minnesota wants to surround All-Star big man Karl-Anthony Towns with more shooters since he commands double-teams in the post.

Wiggins sometimes shows flashes of being an All-Star. However, most nights, he's a disappointment for the Timberwolves.
