Newly acquired Minnesota Timberwolves forward Robert Covington was spotted wearing a white jersey after Wednesday morning's practice session, which means he was running with the starting unit. Whether or not Covington will actually be a starter on his new squad remains to be seen, but the fact that he was practicing with the first team could be an indicator of what's to come.

Covington comes to Minnesota as part of the team's trade with the Philadelphia 76ers for Jimmy Butler. The 27-year-old should be a fine addition to the Timberwolves' lineup, starter or not.

Covington has played in 13 games through the early stages of this season (all starts), racking up averages of 11.3 points on 42.7 percent shooting from the field (39.0 percent from beyond the arc), 5.2 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.8 blocks in 33.8 minutes per outing.

Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau has already stated that Covington and Dario Saric will make their debuts on Wednesday night against the New Orleans Pelicans. However, Thibs would not give up his starting lineup just yet, and rightfully so. They might start, but then again, they may need a bit more time to adjust.

It's possible that Saric could start at forward for Taj Gibson and Covington will likely be a reserve. Saric averaged 11.1 points while starting each of his 13 games for Philadelphia. Covington averaged 11.3 rebounds and also started each of his 13 games.

“We wanted quality players. That was important for us,” Minnesota coach and president Tom Thibodeau said. “(We get) two starters (Covington and Saric) off a team that won 52 games, and they're both young.”

Wednesday night's Timberwolves-Pelicans game is scheduled to tip inside the Target Center at 8:00 p.m. ET with ESPN having live broadcast coverage. Additional information regarding Covington's role should be released shortly before game time.
