As the trade deadline approaches, NBA teams are searching for the right players to add to their teams. Conversely, the trade deadline is also optimal for players who want a change of scenery. One of those players is Shabazz Muhammad of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Muhammad has made it known that he doesn't want to be in Minnesota, and he is seeking a trade or release.

Wojnarowski has stated that Muhammad expressed to the team that he wants to leave. Rightfully so, Muhammad has fallen out of favor with Timberwolves head coach and team president Tom Thibodeau. In the Timberwolves' last 32 games, Muhammad has only played nine of them, averaging 9.7 minutes per game. He is also tallying dismal numbers across the board as a result of his waning minutes. In any event, the Timberwolves are actually in position to get a good deal if they do trade Muhammad. In the right rotation and with some quality minutes, Muhammad is a solid role player.

In the 2014-15 season with 22.8 averaged minutes, Muhammad scored 13.5 points per game, while shooting 39 percent from the three-point line. Muhammad is also on a team-friendly deal and will make roughly $1.6 million this year. Therefore, any team that is looking for some decent scoring and depth in their bench unit will likely target Muhammad before the deadline. On the other hand, Muhammad seems determined to leave Minnesota because he has also requested a release or buyout if the Timberwolves fail to trade him. Since his contract is cheap, that is a possible option as well.

Hopefully, both parties can move forward once the possible steps have been taken.
