The rest of the NBA is praying Karl-Anthony Towns isn't able to pull this off.

After winning Rookie of the Year, Towns is trying to get even better. Part of what that means his working on his 3-point shot.

Towns already shot 34.1 percent from three last season. He only attempted 1.1 per game, but the percentage is still impressive.

Now, he's trying to drive that up. From Jace Frederick of the Twin Cities Pioneer Press:

He also has worked on his three-point shot. In New Jersey, he said, he was one of the top three-point shooters and now is moving “back to his roots,” using some shooting drills he used to do.

“It’s been paying dividends,” Towns said. “My shot has looked the best it’s looked in about four years, and I’m really happy.”

Towns is part of a semi-throwback for bigs in that he is a comfortable scorer on the block with his back to the basket. It helped him average 18.3 points per game last season. Integrating a more deadly 3-point shot would seem almost unfair for the 20-year-old.

The Timberwolves have one of the most young and exciting rosters in the league. Towns and Andrew Wiggins make up a great 1-2 punch while they're also surrounded by Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn, and Ricky Rubio.

The future is bright in Minnesota, and even more so if Towns continues to improve from beyond the arc.
