Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns is widely considered as one of the top big men in the game today. As it turns out, the 25-year-old also has quite an acumen in the sport of golf.

Towns' specialty on the green comes in the form of his insane driving power, which according to the Timberwolves center himself, can max out at a whopping 400 yards:

“I’ve gassed it to above 400, for sure,” Towns said, via Jace Frederick of TwinCities.com. “I’ve been with people and they’ve seen me, multiple times, drive greens that are 400-plus. My 4-iron is going 320 max, 300 average. So I think the driver can do that.”

Even if you're not an avid fan of golf, you'd know that hitting 400 yards on a drive is not an easy task — especially for a casual golfer such as Towns. Then again, he is 6-foot-11 and 250 pounds, so at least on paper, it does seem plausible.

Apparently, Towns has witnesses, too. As he said above, he's played with other people who have seen his tremendous driving power. This includes Timberwolves broadcaster Jim Petersen as well as Hillcrest Golf Club vice-president Jeff Munneke. Towns' golfing buddies were more than willing to share the Timberwolves star's unique talent on the course:

“A long, skinny hole with trees on both sides. I think it literally was right about 400 — 386 or 390,” Munneke said.

Petersen echoed Munneke's statement, while also comparing Towns to a cult legend of the sport:

“He finally hit one square, and it whistled down the right side of the fairway,” Petersen said. “It was a beautiful little draw down the right side of the fairway, and I was like … ‘He hit the (crap) out of that one.’”

“He definitely got a hold of it. It was a rocket,” Munneke said. “It was very Happy Gilmore-like.”

Towns hasn't had the best season this year so if he actually opts to change careers somewhere down the road, it does seem like he has a future in golf.
