On Wednesday night, Minnesota Timberwolves forward Dario Saric took an elbow to the face from Los Angeles Lakers center JaVale McGee.

McGee was trying to back Saric in the post and full on busted his lip. It wasn't on purpose, as it was in classic clumsiness from McGee.

Dario Saric has been on the Timberwolves only for a short while. He was part of the trade that sent Jimmy Butler to the Philadelphia 76ers. Philadelphia sent Robert Covington, Saric, and Jerryd Bayles for Butler and Justin Patton. This gave the Timberwolves more depth with Covington defensively while putting a stretch four next to Karl-Anthony Towns.

Saric isn't a great defender and is often posted up due to his lack of strength in the post, making McGee take advantage of the mismatch. Saric, though, has excellent court vision. He can put the ball down on the floor and also hit pretty consistently from deep.

So far this season, Saric has averaged 25 minutes per game, tallying 10.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists while shooting 42 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from beyond the arc.

JaVale McGee, on the other hand, has been a vital part of the Lakers offense. His size allows him to catch lobs and be a rim runner. He's a very good rebounder and works great with the squad.

On the season, he's averaged 10.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks while shooting 58.9 percent from the field. He splits time with Tyson Chandler at the center position, and they balance each other out very well.
