Minnesota Timberwolves big man Karl-Anthony Towns is a two-time NBA All-Star, and upon finding out that he will be in Charlotte for All-Star weekend, the former No. 1 overall pick was overcome with emotions.

Karl-Anthony Towns was actually treating the entire Timberwolves and Minnesota Lynx staff to a movie when he saw on his phone that he was named an All-Star reserve.

Once he saw he made the team, Towns started crying while his mom and dad celebrated the great news:

This is pretty cool. Karl-Anthony Towns is putting up monster numbers this season and deserves the All-Star selection. Towns is averaging 22.6 points, 12.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game while shooting 49.8 percent from the field, 37.6 percent from beyond the arc and 84.9 percent from the free-throw line.

The Timberwolves are 25-26 on the season, 11th place in the Western Conference standings. Karl-Anthony Towns has 33 double-doubles on the season and has been on a tear ever since Minnesota traded Jimmy Butler to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Before the 2018-19 season started, Towns signed a lucrative five-year, $158 million extension with the Timberwolves.

So far this season, the big man is earning that money, but Towns has to lead the team to the playoffs for this season to be successful.
