Ahead of their Super Bowl LII matchup against the favored New England Patriots, the Philadelphia Eagles need all hands on deck if they're going to win their first Lombardi Trophy. While running back Jay Ajayi, linebacker Dannell Ellerbe, and defensive tackle Fletcher Cox were active at Wednesday's practice, Timmy Jerigan continued to sit out with an illness, per the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. This was the first practice of Super Bowl week for the Eagles.

Ajayi is dealing with an ankle injury, Cox is nursing a calf issue, and Ellerbe's hamstring remains sore, but all three players appear to be good to go on Sunday. The Eagles don't appear to be worried about Jernigan's status for Sunday either, but we'll learn more when the official injury destinations are announced. He missed the final practice of last week as well with the same listing.

Despite the illness, Jernigan spoke to the media last week, saying he's never felt better with the Super Bowl on the horizon.

His play, along with Cox and defensive ends Vinny Curry, Brandon Graham, Chris Long, and Derek Barnett, will be vital to Philadelphia having success against the Patriots. If the front four is able to successfully pressure Brady while allowing the other seven defenders to sit in coverage, it should disrupt what New England wants to do in the passing game. Then, specifically against the run, Jernigan and Cox must clog up the trenches to keep the Patriots in longer second and third-down situations.

ProFootballTalk's Josh Alper adds that the Eagles have two more practices scheduled this week in preparation for Sunday's clash.
