Tennessee Titans first-year head coach has had his share of ups and downs this season. The Titans are two weeks removed from dominating the New England Patriots, but this past Sunday the Indianapolis Colts absolutely had their way with the Titans.

According to Erik Bacharach of the Nashville Tennessean, Vrabel thinks they aren't out of the running just yet.

“Listen, we're not dead, guys. We're 5-5.”

The Titans have looked fantastic at times this season as they started the season off 3-1 but then dropped three straight games. Tennessee had playoff potential written all over them early in the season. However, their inconsistent play as of late could prove to be costly for the Titans down the road.

The Titans are currently tied with the surging Colts at 5-5 for second in the AFC South behind the Houston Texans. The Texans are about as hot as a team can be, winning seven straight after a 0-3 start to the season.

In Vrabel's defense, no the Titans are not dead at all. The problem is their inconsistency. Tennessee took down New England just as their division rival Jacksonville Jaguars did earlier in the season. If a team can accomplish that tough task not much is impossible. Approaching Week 12, the Titans face off against the Texans who they previously beat back in Week 2. Things are a bit different now, of course.

The Titans face Houston, the New York Jets, Jacksonville, the New York Giants, Washington Redskins and Indianapolis one last time. They could very easily sneak back into the playoff conversation, but they need to reach a consistent level of play.
