The level of hate Tennessee Titans tight end Delanie Walker and his family are getting lately would make you think he did something criminal, when in fact, he only made comments that didn’t sit well with a number of folks in our country.

According to Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report, Walker has received a ton of backlash from frustrated fans who took exception to the 12-year veteran’s statement in which he said that angry fans who didn’t like the Titans remaining in the locker room while the national anthem was played before last Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks should stop watching games if they feel offended.

Walker earlier made it clear that the Titans were not protesting the military by staying in the locker room instead of appearing on the field for the national anthem during an interview with reporters, including Jason Wolfe of USA Today.

“First off, I’m going to say this: We’re not disrespecting the military, the men and women that serve in the Army. That’s not what it’s all about,” Titans tight end Delanie Walker said. “If you look at most of the guys in here – I’ve been in the USO. I support the troops. This is not about that. It’s about equal rights, and that’s all everyone is trying to show, is that we all care about each other.

“And the fans that don’t want to come to the game? I mean, OK. Bye. I mean, if you feel that’s something, we’re disrespecting you, don’t come to the game. You don’t have to. No one’s telling you to come to the game. It’s your freedom of choice to do that.”

The NFL is currently dealing with a divisive issue that has unintentionally pitted its players and teams against many of their fans.

Walker isn’t softening on his stance, and with the Titans set to play the Houston Texans this coming Sunday, it will be interesting to see if the team remains in the locker room once again considering the brewing discontent of some fans.
