Tennessee Titans sophomore wide receiver A.J. Brown was highly regarded as one of the breakout candidates heading into the 2020 NFL season. However, he has had a rocky start to his second professional campaign due to a nagging bone bruise in his knee.

It was not confirmed when he sustained the injury but he did catch a helmet to the knee when he collided with Denver Broncos safety Kareem Jackson with 10 minutes left in the Titans’ season opener back in Week 1.

The former Ole Miss standout exited the game with 39 receiving yards on 5 receptions in his team's tight 16-14 road victory. He was subsequently ruled out of their Week 2 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars but the Titans were able to pull off a 33-30 triumph despite his absence on the field.

Brown admitted that it was frustrating to not play for his team but he's also going to make sure to take it one day at a time with regards to his injury.

Every day is better and better, I can say that,” he said, via Erik Bacharach of the Tennessean. “But as of right now, I got to take it slow. I’m doing everything I can to be back out there with the team. When that day comes, you know I’ll be ready.

Fourth-year tight end Jonnu Smith stepped up in the game against the Jags and racked up 84 receiving yards on 4 receptions and 2 touchdowns scored. Veteran wideout Adam Humphries added 48 yards on 5 catches and a touchdown of his own. Pass-catcher Corey David also chipped in 36 yards on 3 receptions and a touchdown for the Titans.

Despite escaping with two nail-biting wins in their first two games of the season, A.J. Brown's absence still leaves a hole in the team's offensive rotation. His eventual return on the gridiron in the coming weeks will further help the Titans' cause to make the playoffs this season.

The team will aim to keep their win streak alive against the struggling Minnesota Vikings in Week 3 proceedings.
