The Tennessee Titans are getting some good news on their injury front, as linebacker Brian Orakpo looks like his injured elbow might be good to go when they take on the Washington Redskins next weekend (h/t Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk).

“It’s getting better day by day,” Orakpo said, according to Jim Wyatt of the Panthers' official team website. “We’ll see where we’re at by the end of the week. [The plan] is to come back as fast as possible, but at the same time make sure I am myself.”

Orakpo missed the Titans' win against the New York Giants this past weekend as a result of the elbow issue.

In 13 games this season, Orakpo has registered 28 tackles, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

The 32-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Texas, was originally selected by the Redskins in the first round (13th pick overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft.

He had a spectacular rookie campaign, playing in all 16 games and finishing with 51 tackles, 11 sacks and a forced fumble en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

The following year, Orakpo made yet another trip to Honolulu after totaling 56 stops, 8.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.

Orakpo spent the first six years of his career in Washington, making three Pro Bowls but missing a solid chunk of time due to injuries he suffered in 2012 and 2014.

He then signed a four-year, $31 million deal with Tennessee in March 2015.

The Titans moved to 8-6 after their win over the Giants and are in the thick of the AFC Wild Card race. The Baltimore Ravens, also 8-6, currently hold the second Wild Card spot by way of tiebreakers.
