Players and coaches around the NFL are getting accustomed to having to wear masks in the team facility. However, the Tennessee Titans shouldn't have an issue forgetting to wear a mask. While the Titans begin training camp, veteran Dennis Kelly has become the team's unofficial mask sheriff, according to his teammates.

Even though Taylor Lewan hates to admit it, he believes Kelly has done a good job enforcing masks at Tennessee's facility:

“I think Dennis would be an unbelievable dictator in any country with the way he’s been handling the mask thing,” Lewan joked. “And so although it’s been very annoying, he’s doing a good job. And I hate even saying that out loud. Dennis is a really good friend of mine so I hate throwing the boy compliments.

Earlier this offseason, Kelly re-signed with the Titans following the departure of Jack Conklin in free agency. Despite re-signing, he'll be competing with rookie Isaiah Wilson for the starting spot at right tackle. Amid his competition at right tackle, Kelly's teammates are noticing his attention to everyone wearing masks.

“He’s really been anal about it,” Titans safety Kevin Byard said. “We’re all getting used to these new rules and protocols and wearing a mask and stuff like that, and I think it’s good. . . . At the end of the day, man, the safest team and the healthiest team this year, I think is going to be the one that’s going to be playing in January and February.”

Dennis Kelly is the Titans' NFLPA rep and has been involved in conversations with the NFL on how to stay safe amid the COVID-19 pandemic. While his role with the team is uncertain on the field, Kelly is asserting himself as an important leader off of it.
