As if the loss in Super Bowl LII was not enough, the New England Patriots are bracing themselves for the departure of some key players this offseason. Needless to say, running back Dion Lewis was among those expected to be on his way out thanks to his lucrative prospects on the open market.

Meanwhile, the Tennessee Titans emerged as frontrunners to acquire his services. According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, they have reportedly pulled the trigger on an agreement with Lewis:

Former Patriots’ RB Dion Lewis intends to sign a 4-year deal with Tennesee, source tells ESPN.

Dion Lewis was among the top running backs on the market this offseason and for a good reason. He is coming off his most productive season yet in which he registered 896 yards and six touchdowns as the Patriots' workhorse back. He also flashed his receiving prowess out of the backfield with 32 receptions for 214 yards and three touchdowns. That said, he should fit in nicely behind running back Derrick Henry in Tennessee.

The Titans have largely relied on a split backfield for some time now. However, they made it clear last season that they intend to use Henry as the workhorse back moving forward. Tennessee cemented that notion with the release of running back DeMarco Murray as well.

That said, the addition of Lewis indicates they still do not want to give him too heavy of a workload in their new offensive scheme. The former Patriot will likely serve as a complimentary back on third downs and passing situations.
