Tennessee Titans wide receiver AJ Brown has put together a breakout year down the stretch of the 2019 NFL season. It appears his efforts have not gone unnoticed by Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Don Martindale.

According to Bo Smolka of PressBox, Martindale says Brown reminds him of a young Anquan Boldin.

Ravens def coordinator Don “Wink” Martindale said Titans WR A.J. Brown is “a young Anquan Boldin”

This is certainly some heavy praise coming from Martindale. As a result, it is safe to assume that Brown will be a point of emphasis in his game plan in the AFC Divisional Round.

Martindale had spent a season with Boldin in his last year with the Ravens during the 2012 campaign. Although he had already been a veteran at that point in his career, the three-time Pro Bowler clearly still had plenty in the tank after playing an integral role in the offense during their Super Bowl run that year.

It is easy to see where Martindale may find similarities. Boldin had also burst onto the scene as a rookie for the Arizona Cardinals with his versatile skill set in the passing game. Meanwhile, their physicality is backed by a stout frame at 6-foot-1, 220-plus pounds which makes them a difficult matchup for undersized cornerbacks. Brown's ability to make plays whenever the ball is in his hands could be a cause for concern for Martindale.

The Ravens are perhaps one of the few teams equipped to combat a player like Brown or Boldin with their own aggressive secondary that includes Earl Thomas, Marcus Peters, and Marlon Humphrey.
