The Tennessee Titans decided to shore up some depth under center by bringing in Trevor Siemian and DeShone Kizer in for a workout. It appears they have made their decision on which player to add to their quarterback room.

According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the Titans have signed Siemian:

Although the Titans were adamant about doubling down on a long-term deal for quarterback Ryan Tannehill this offseason, there had not been much talk about their contingency options under center with the departure of Marcus Mariota this offseason.

Tannehill's recent absence from training camp gave the coaching staff ample look at their contingency plans in Logan Woodside and rookie Cole McDonald. It seems this was more than enough to spur Tennessee to bring in Siemian and Kizer for a workout despite all the restrictions placed in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The addition of Siemian gives Tennessee some much-needed depth since his experience should give him the edge for the No. 2 job over the unproven Woodside and McDonald. After all, the Titans are all too familiar with the importance of having a quality backup given Tannehill's resurgence in the 2019 campaign. After

Siemian's most active stint came during his time as the starter for the Denver Broncos following Peyton Manning's retirement. While the former seventh-round pick showed some early promise, he struggled with changes to the coaching staff and was traded to the Minnesota Vikings.

Siemian then signed a one-year deal to be the backup for New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold. He filled in for Darnold as the starter in Week 2 against the Denver Broncos and completed 3 of 6 passes for three yards before suffering a season-ending ankle injury.
