Former Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Dean Pees believes Mike Vrabel will have success being the team's defensive coordinator and head coach. Pees retired from the league after last season, and Vrabel didn't hire anyone to take over the job. Vrabel has said that Shane Brown will lead the defense, but wouldn't commit to who was calling the plays.

Pees thinks a great example of it working would be Mike Zimmer with the Minnesota Vikings who has called the plays during his time there.

He knows that Vrabel is only going to do it if he feels like he can do it, so if Vrabel feels like he can have success, Pees trusts him to get the job done.

“I think it all depends on the person,” Pees told The Midday 180, via Paul Kuharsky of paulkuharsky.com. “Look, Mike is a very, very smart guy. He’s going to do whatever needs to be done which is the best for the team and the best chance for success. And if he feels he can’t, he won’t. If he feels he can, he will. If I were a fan of Tennessee, I would have the utmost confidence that he was going to be able to handle it one way or the other going forward.”

Vrabel was the Houston Texans' defensive coordinator during the 2017 season before being hired as the Titans head coach, so it's not like this is the first time calling plays. It's going to be a lot to balance, but Pees has confidence he can have success.
