One of the Tennessee Titans’ best young players, right tackle Jack Conklin, will be away from all football activities for quite awhile because of an injury he suffered during Saturday’s 35-14 divisional round loss to the New England Patriots in Foxborough.

According to now ex-Titans head coach Mike Mularkey, Conklin tore his ACL in the Patriots game, and will go under the knife soon. That means Conklin is unable to do any strenuous physical activity. Mularkey also does not think Conklin will recover in time to participate in the Titans’ training camp in the offseason, per Jim Wyatt of TitansOnline.com.

“Jack Conklin tore his ACL, and he will have surgery in the next two weeks,” coach Mike Mularkey said on Sunday. “He will be a possible PUP candidate once we get though training camp just based on the timing of the injury, which is unfortunate.”

Conklin sustained the injury in the first quarter of the Patriots game, and his absence from that point forward was greatly felt, particularly by Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota, who was sacked a total of eight times for a loss of 52 yards.

The injury was a bad ending in an otherwise solid season for Conklin, who is currently graded by Pro Football Talk as above average at his position, serving a pivotal role in the rushing and passing games.

Selected eighth overall in the 2016 NFL Draft, Conklin made an immediate impact for Tennessee, starting all 16 games last season while also being named First-team All-Pro as a rookie, which is a very impressive feat.
