The Tennessee Titans are heading into Week 9 proceedings with much uncertainty with regards to the nagging injury of defensive end Jadeveon Clowney. According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, he is dealing with a “meniscus issue” and all options are on the table, including surgery.

He can still play through the injury but he remains to be questionable ahead of their upcoming matchup against the Chicago Bears after failing to practice all week. A meniscus trim would sideline him for several weeks but a full repair would already rule him out for the remainder of the season, as per NFL Network‘s Ian Rapoport.

The Titans' defense is expected to be dealt with a huge hit in the event that Clowney will be unavailable to suit up for their coming games. Although he has yet to tally a sack this season, the presence that the three-time Pro Bowler brings to the Titans' defensive rotation remains valuable to the team.

Through seven games played, the former South Carolina standout has totaled six QB hits, four passes defended, one forced fumble, and 15 combined tackles. On Friday, Titans head coach Mike Vrabel said that the team would evaluate Clowney on Saturday morning and make a determination about his availability for Sunday, via Yahoo Sports.

The Tennessee-based squad is coming off a two-game skid after suffering a tightly-contested 27-24 defeat at the hands of the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers followed by an unexpected 31-20 loss to the struggling Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8.

Clowney's status for their upcoming games will be crucial for the team's campaign as they remain in the thick of the playoff race with a 5-2 record while sitting atop the AFC South division.
