Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney has made the decision to join the Tennessee Titans for the 2020 season, reuniting him with Mike Vrabel. Just a day after choosing the Titans, his contract details with Tennessee have been revealed, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

As expected, Clowney is receiving a one-year deal with the Titans that is worth a bit more than $12 million. By taking a one-year deal, Clowney is setting himself up to cash in next offseason.

That is as long as he performs well in Tennessee this season. Though, it is important to note that Clowney's best season in his career came in 2017 with the Houston Texans when Vrabel was the defensive coordinator.

In that season, the former No. 1 pick notched a career-high 9.5 sacks, 21 tackles for loss, 21 quarterback hits, and two forced fumbles. And even though the New Orleans Saints made a late push to lure him, Clowney seemingly chose the Titans due to his familiarity with the system.

Of course, Clowney's one-year contract is a bit of a disappointment for the Pro Bowl edge rusher. At the beginning of free agency, Clowney was seeking a deal that made him one of the highest-paid defensive players. No team was willing to give him the contract he desired, especially with him coming off of a core muscle injury that hindered him in 2019.

Nevertheless, the Titans are getting a spectacular late-offseason addition to the defense just in time for the 2020 season. And while he would have preferred a long-term contract this offseason, Jadeveon Clowney is motivated to turn his opportunity with Tennessee into a lucrative deal in 2021.
