The Tennessee Titans are looking to take the next step forward in building off their playoff appearance last season with a stronger 2018 campaign.

One of the ways the team has looked to improve has been their pass rush with the help as new head coach Mike Vrabel brought in former great Jared Allen help provide tutelage to their edge rushers, according to Jim Wyatt of Titansoline.com.

“Anything we can get around our players that can help us, great,” Vrabel said. “Having an idea of things he could do to help our team and to help our players, we were able to get him out here and work with some guys in the Phase 2 program where a lot of that is individual drills and position specific development. The more he can be around here and working with one or two guys, I think that is key, trying to do things to help our players improve.”

Allen has plenty of insight to offer given that he was one of the best pass rushers during his career racking up 136.0 sacks over 12 seasons while playing for the Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings, Chicago Bears, and Carolina Panthers. This also included him earning five Pro Bowl selections, four First-Team All-Pro nods and led the league in sacks twice (2007,2011).

Last season, Tennessee was near the top of the league with their pass rushing presence finishing fifth with 43.0 sacks while no player finished with a double-digit with linebacker Derrick Morgan leading the way with 7.5. This opportunity to learn from Allen could help the Titans take another step toward being an even more effective defensive unit against the pass up front.

Ultimately, Vrabel has taken the approach to find any way to help his team find more success defensively and bringing a potential Hall of Famer for guidance could help that effort.
