Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota is having a seesaw type of season in this third year in the league. While he remains a quality starter for the Titans, there are still plenty of room for him to improve. One of them is ball security.

Mariota has quite improved on that, particularly in taking care of the ball, as he has yet to commit a fumble through the first 12 weeks of the season. For comparison, he had nine last year and had 10 back in his rookie season.

However, the zero fumbles this 2017 is just half of the story of Mariota’s ability to protect the football, as he already has a career-high 12 interceptions this season. He threw nine picks in 2016 and 10 in 2015. That's progression with one turnover stat, with regression in another.

Having said all of that, the Titans are still atop the AFC South division standings with a 7-4 record. After a 3-2 start, the Titans heated up and have won five in six games since Week 6.

On the season, the dual-threat quarterback has 2,273 passing yards and nine passing touchdowns. On the ground, Mariota has 190 rushing yards and four rushing scores.

Mariota and the Titans will look to win their third-straight game this coming Sunday when they host the Houston Texans at Nissan Stadium.
